It said random! sorry to step in...here is something to argue about.. šŸ˜

Why is it in Victoria you have to pay TAC on every car you have registered! so lets say you own 5 cars and pay TAC on everyone of them, which costs a lot.

Why should you pay TAC on 5 cars, when you can only be driving one? You can't crash 5 cars at the same time!.. lol my crazy brain šŸ¤£

Aussies getting screwed over again by the Gov? :(

Unfortunately, it does & goes both ways over MANY generations.

A scene from The West Wing that struck a chord with me when I first watched it:

This conflict will never end, no matter how much politics is involved or how much people talk & (hopefully) resolve their differences.

There will always be division/friction/conflict over this issue whilst both sides remain utterly convinced that THEIR'S is the inalienable right to a patch of earth, because their "God" decreed it so, in whatever religious tome they choose to follow.

This isn't just about "land". It's about MY God is better than YOUR God. Ours is the ONLY TRUE God. Fundamental Ideological/illogical doctrines.

Religion has been the root-cause of so many conflicts over time (Hey! Even look at the Game of Thrones conflicts between the followers of the "new" Gods & the "old" if you want to see a modern take on it).

The Crusades & the "Troubles" in Northern Ireland are just such examples.

Before I go-off like a pork chop (neither Jews nor Muslims allow pork), & since it's a Friday night, I think I'll go & roll a spliff & chill-out for awhile.

Salam/Shalom to all here.

Maybe I have a bias towards this as I have really come to believe organised religions are all BS. Iā€™ll admit Iā€™m atheist now.
But when someone, anyone, uses a god to justify their war then they have lost the point of being religious.
All religions are meant to speak peace. Yet they all get quoted and thrown around that they need to defend against none believerā€™s. So I really find it hard to believe that anyone who quotes a ā€œgods wordā€ as their reason for war and hostile actions is actually doing the correct thing within their own religion.

Anytime I see news and posts etc about wars in the name of religion I really just canā€™t imagine this world getting better.

What does science have to answer for?
The main reason I liked the post is because science is behind most of the discoveries that ended up raping the earth for its valuable resources to benefit our gluttony and excess. Science. A blessing and a curse I suppose. These discoveries have shaped humanities technological progress, and at the same time shaped the planets future for the worse. But humanity is the real issue, not science. We just happen to use science to our advantage more than the planets. Also a lot of dogma, politics and ideology eating up the relevance of science these days.

Just my lame take currently. Progress is good and bad. For example, we have come up with "cures" for some diseases and syndromes that ravaged humanity, but most of the prolificacy of these diseases and syndromes have been bought on by our own gluttony and excess in the first place, of which was rapidly accelerated by science and the industrial revolution.

Keep in mind I love science (currently studying my major in Microbiology and minor in immunology and infectious disease) but it's easy to see how much of a double-edged sword it can be and how politicized it has become over the last 50 years. It became super obvious during covid. For example I asked why we weren't doing serological auto antibody testing on people who were immunocompromised before we boosted them multiple times (especially if they already have 3 shots, the virus a few times and a shit ton of antibodies.) If you already have active antibodies there's no point forcing the body to produce more. The protection is already there. I was called anti-vax despite being vaccinated. Was called far-right immediately. Was told that I was a covid denialist, that I was simply politically motivated while at the same time they called me a host of politically motivated slurs. Not one person could answer the question at all without resulting to insults and political statements. Should have been an incredibly elementary question when it comes to immunology, but it was taken as a political or ideological statement for some bizarre reason.

Science was captured by $ in my ā€œopinionā€ in the 1800s, Germany, chemicals and mechanisation. Science isnā€™t bad itā€™s how itā€™s used or directed. Chemicals and mechanisation were used in one sense to increase profitability and in another to help and feed the masses.
Strands of science do advocate environmental protection, again itā€™s those who utilise the products of science.
You canā€™t have an opinion on climate science. Science doesnā€™t work that way. Thereā€™s no conspiracies. Scientists donā€™t have opinions.
Even Darwinā€™s work to me justifies the English colonial era, survival of the fittest, the superior race and evolution as characterised by the Caucasian race.
The broader western society have no idea how science works, how to research, they have access to volumes of information, but no skills to disseminate and critically analyse. Same goes for most undergraduates and some post graduates. You need a null hypothesis not just the hypothesis, thatā€™s too challenging for many.
Their beliefs and opinions make them whom they are, so when challenged, responses will be deranged, volatile and aggressive because for most itā€™s a scary place being alone or in an unknown. The chanting tribe offers safety, anonymity and answers.
Just my musings, not challenging or questioning others, you know like in the days before keyboards when conversations could be had.

Whole heartedly agree.
In the end we are where we are due to the brilliance of a tiny tiny amount of people.
The rest of us including me are dumb fucks regurgitating others work.
We only exist to enrich a few.
I love the argument that climate scientists do their corrupt work for their grants. Off the top of my head, all the climate scientists salaries for a year would be less than the proceeds of oil for a day. Vested interests?
Do I care? Absolutely not.
Like you Vinny I have an ecological science background, Rob Clarkeā€™s Botany book got me through 1st year ecology. In the same classes no one could explain why the human population graph since the Industrial Age mirrored a boom crash population graph (where an organism consumes all it critical resources). Our species has an amazing ability to rationalise our most horrific and destructive tendencies, weā€™re very easily manipulated, more so in the digital age. I donā€™t claim an exemption.

BREAKING: Congressman Ted Lieu incinerates Donald Trump for ordering a water release in California as a "PR stunt" that did nothing but waste water and damage the environment.

This is how you expose Trump on the world stage...

"When you solve for the wrong problem, not only do you not get the solution, you can cause harm," Lieu said at a House Judiciary hearing on "California Fires and the Consequences of Overregulation."

"Donald Trump has it in his mind that somehow thereā€™s a spigot in Northern California, and heā€™s going to open a valve and dump water to Southern California," Lieu continued.

Trump's idiotic order last week ā€” which was designed to grab headlines without actually accomplishing anything ā€” was for the Army Corps of Engineers to unleash water roughly one hundred miles away from the Los Angeles fires (which had already been largely contained.)

Not surprisingly, Trump lied about the order's effects and claimed that "once empty ā€˜halfpipesā€™ are now brimming with beautiful, clean water" which was flowing to Los Angeles. In reality, the water did not reach LA and was not needed.

Not only that, but the early release may have endangered the available water supply when spring arrives.

Lieu slammed the order, explaining that the over 2 billion gallons of water "almost flooded farmland" but thankfully local officials interceded before even more water could be released.

"This water was saved for the farmers, for the summer season when they needed the water," said Lieu. "The president wasted all this water that isnā€™t even reaching Southern California."

He added that the water is "going to evaporate for a PR stunt."

"This was a harmful, ludicrous action to solve for the wrong problem" Lieu stated.

This is textbook Trump. He has zero interest in learning about problems or actually solving them. He only cares about claiming a win in the media before moving on to the next issue, leaving a trail of wreckage in his wake.

Mate, the insane wage gap between the food and drink sciences (especially the ultra processed foods and alcohols) and the environmental sciences on a base level says it all tbh. When I looked into fermentation for industrial food/drink processing the average wages for a diploma or post bachelor position was around 95-125k. The fermentation jobs in enzyme based soil remediation were at 55-70k for the same study and experience level. And sadly money speaks so the vast majority were getting into pharma or food/alcohol sciences for mass production.

Looks like we have an incoming boom In eco science funding based on job projections though which is always a positive. They were relatively stagnant when I was looking into a career change a few years ago.

I agree with what you say, but you canā€™t welcome anyone to your POV with insult and I know you didnā€™t create it. Delicate diplomacy disarms dangerous dicks. I think the era of Trump is great. I dispose all and everything about him, butā€¦.. the USA need this to either see heā€™s correct and a saviour or it was a great con. Might fuck a lot of things might not. But to have the concept or prospect of Trump festering in the background would have been toxic. I support the all in bet. Iā€™ve never considered America as defined by its system and government as a great thing, itā€™s horrific, her people I feel for on both sides of the spectrum. I canā€™t see it not ending in tears and blood.
As I was trying to express before weā€™re all part of the stupid and dumb, thatā€™s about 99.9999999999999ā€¦ā€¦ā€¦.% of the human population, including Trump and Musk, you and me. Outliers of intelligence and mushrooms got us to where we exist today based on astronomically impossible odds šŸ™ˆ

I didnā€™t do the work I qualified to do for money. Purely enjoyment and experience. I always believed the trades were where itā€™s at.

I'm pretty confident that I wont influence anyone in TSE with my point of view about Diaper or Elon. The vast majority of which can already see through his spin tactics.

We have 2 more years of this.
Hes likely already done enough to lose the Senate majority in 2026 mid terms.
He didn't need to go through the tax, social security and medical records of every SINGLE man, woman and child in the country. Two Republican members have already broken ranks and questioned the need for that.
The memes now just write themselves.
Diaper opens his mouth, and shoots himself in the foot. We're just observers and distant commentators of the WORST Potusa ever. Over time, history will show that to be true.

Stick around.....the memes are only just starting.

Justin has been recorded on a "hot mic" telling his version of events.

Donnie lied to us. There is " no" substantial fentanyl problem on the Canadian border. Only 0.2% of all imported fentanyl enters usa through the Canadian border

Donnies real agenda is trying to steal Canada's rare mineral and oil resources.

He already told Justin in Nov 2024( before he was president ) that he will make Canada the 51st state.

So hes imposed tariffs because the Canadians dont want his involvement in their country.

Story must be fake, hey, brethren
