i also don't claim to know or understand the Israel / Palestine conflict from being Australian & living in Australia , not having lived or had ancestors live that reality , it seems to date back to the end of the nineteenth century , so i think the above post is just a little short on more than a hundred odd years of narrative !

Unfortunately, it does & goes both ways over MANY generations.

A scene from The West Wing that struck a chord with me when I first watched it:

This conflict will never end, no matter how much politics is involved or how much people talk & (hopefully) resolve their differences.

There will always be division/friction/conflict over this issue whilst both sides remain utterly convinced that THEIR'S is the inalienable right to a patch of earth, because their "God" decreed it so, in whatever religious tome they choose to follow.

This isn't just about "land". It's about MY God is better than YOUR God. Ours is the ONLY TRUE God. Fundamental Ideological/illogical doctrines.

Religion has been the root-cause of so many conflicts over time (Hey! Even look at the Game of Thrones conflicts between the followers of the "new" Gods & the "old" if you want to see a modern take on it).

The Crusades & the "Troubles" in Northern Ireland are just such examples.

Before I go-off like a pork chop (neither Jews nor Muslims allow pork), & since it's a Friday night, I think I'll go & roll a spliff & chill-out for awhile.

Absolutely it's much more complicated than any of us can fathom, and there's deep rooted issues, spaning multiple generations of families.
That's exactly why Donnies proposed solution is so absolutely ludicrous.

In the same way he tries to " fix" everything , he or some of his corrupt friend, want to buy, own and control everything. It's really heartless and despicable.

It doesn't solve any of their underlying issues, and just kicks the can down the road.
