Nice. did they pay for the fuel bill? I've been looking at those fishing Seadoo jetskis lately... be nice and cheap on the fuel.
These snapper weighed atound 15kgs+ in total.. I've gone back to a 21 foot trailer boat with a single 225 hp outboard. Used about 70 litres for the full day, as we also travelled another 25kms south and back again, throughout the day looking for fish. Jet ski will be fine for some near/off shore fishing. But wouldn't have the range to fish the grounds we were looking over that day. But around Bris coastline the inshore fishing should be red hot anyway. If you get out of bed early enough to throw a line you're a chance of even better fish up there

Hooked up on a huge Kingy doing exactly that in the Seaway (minus the sounder). Took me 15 minutes to land the bastard, and dragged us the length of the Seaway during the process. From memory, I think he was just under a metre long.

One I got on the weekend fishing the comp. Was holding 3rd for a bit then a couple got weighed in one @ 799 and one at 815. A couple big Jews weighed I over 1200 a 930 snapper and a 815 tusk fish. I ended up winning a rod and a new marine battery in the lucky draws though.

Nice flatty, biggest one that family member landed was 97cm, was a horse of a fish...

My PB bream was 47cm, hooked up on some oyster beds, cunt of a spot heaps of snags and the good size fish bust you off as soon as you hook them. Locked up the drag up and skull dragged this bream over the rocks and ended up bending the shaft in the reel (cheap Shimano 1000 combo) but was worth it, no way I was gonna let that fish dart back into the rocks and snap me off 🤣.. good times.

Re jetski: Ive been thinkin about that for awhile.. guys do pretty well on them here on the Goldy especially on the mackeral mulloway and snapper, easy 1 man launching and retrieving, low fuel bills and rego either that or a Stealth fishing kayak launching off the beach rods and gear stored inside the fish hatch 👌

I have a weirdo sideline / fetish that I doubt any here would appreciate but here goes ......... I collect / buy / sell [not as much as I should] and make [from parts and donar reels] ABU Ambassedeur bait caster Swedish fishing reels - made, mostly, between the 1950's and 1980. I have quite a few - especially 2500C models - here is one I made yesterday ......... they are small bait casters / ultra light - big in Japan, believe it or not. Great for bass, trout, flathead, bream, etc.

My old fishing mentor ( Roy, who is now almost 80 years old and no longer fishing), almost exclusively fished with Abu gear all his life. Abu reels didn't need regular servicing like all of the Shimano and Daiwa reels, despite their mag -seal claims. I have a very old Ambassedeur 7000 in the shed. Haven't used it in over 20 years, so it's covered in dust. I jusr gave it a quick run and everything works, including the line spooler.

That's an 80's/90's 7000 - great reels ! I caught some serious snapper [landbased and boat] and kingfish with these in VIC back in the day. Yes, ABU reels are bullet proof but also work better with a little care / maintenance which is easy - to me, compared to Penn reels for example. Once pulled in a 20kg wahoo on a live slimey mackerel on Christmas Island using a 7000 and 15kg braid. Avoided the shark bite off which was a bonus.

Quick wipe with sponge full of soapy water followed by a mist from the hose is the only love my reels get. Local guy services and repairs most brands around here for $40 (cash only). I have my 6 x Tiagras serviced every 2 years. Otherwise a marlin will quickly find fault with a sticky drag. The other reels only go in if they need a repair.

If you ever need a deck hand who gets to hold a rod for 10 minutes @Old fox , I am your man. Marlin and Mahi Mahi are on my bucket list. Although I have put shit on Penn reels, I actually like some - the original Torque reels are tanks.
