The thing with HPS is yeah there bright but only about 35%ish (depending how new and brand globe) of that light is usable. That's another reason LED is better especially when your getting up and past 90CRI. That's why you can replace a 600w hps with say 480 led its not so much the LUX but the spectrum, spread and actual usable light that comes out of them. You go from around 35% usable light to up around 90%. So even if it's not brighter the plants still gain more light via getting more light they actually need
