Your getting lots of advice mate and I bet it’s all coming at you like a flock of magpies.

Just look at your budget and then look at what you want to produce. If you think you won’t upgraded to bigger then go for quality now.

However if you do 2-3 grows and end up wanting to upgrade to a 5x5 tent with a Diablo light then maybe cheaper options now won’t be as bad.

Me personally, I’m actually looking at downsizing and having two (2x4 ish) grow cabinets. One veg and one flower. It will fit the planter boxes I am using and take up less space in my garage.

Grab a pen and paper. Draw up floorplans and make a list of things. It may help. But yeah there’s certainly some stuff you don’t want to cheap out on and there’s stuff that you really won’t need to start off with as well.

Good luck mate and keep asking if you need to. We were all in the same boat starting out. Especially if you need to get the ok from the missus 😂

Yeah certainly plenty of options and really appreciate all the advice - while what i know could be written on the back of a postage stamp, it's more than a week ago when i decided this was something i should do.

So where I'm at now is:

Seahawk Smart Grow Tent 1.45mx1.45mx2.0m High for $250

HLG Blackwing / Full spectrum light for veg and flower $399

AC Infinity, Duct Carbon Filter, Australian Charcoal, 6 Inch - 150 MM $185
AC Infinity, Cloudline T6, Quiet Inline Duct Fan System with Temperature and Humidity Controller, 6 Inch - 150 MM $349
AC Infinity, Flexible Four-Layer Ducting, 8 FT long 2.4 metre, 6 Inch - 150 mm $50

I'll get a couple of Oscillating Clip Fans - something to look for this evening.

Few 5L fabric pots
Canna Coco Professional Plus

Is there anything else significant that I'll need aside from seeds???

I"m unsure about the intake fan now - some are saying not needed, others use one so all thoughts appreciate

Nice

I’m actually looking at the Blackwing too. Just need to finish some afterpays before I get it.

Nutes?

Others said it before but don’t worry about intake if you have a tent. There’s enough passive intake to make it work.

Prob only need I oscillating fan in that area I only run 2 in a 4×8 in a 4×2 it may be to much and cause wind burn plus the air rushing in to replace what the extraction fan is extracting will be more than sufficient

"I'll get a couple of Oscillating Clip Fans - something to look for this evening."

Those clip on fans are rubbish , I got a big fan , small industrial, for 30 at cash converters

Been running for 2 yrs non stop atm

You can get a decent fan , instead of putting it on the stand provided. ,use a adjustable hanger to save room on the floor

Intake fan is totally unnecessary, the vents in your tent , even if covered to stop light entering will still allow more than enough air

The negative pressure produced by your extraction fans will also help draw in and contain smell of grow

Really cheap fans become a fire hazard when you leave them running 24/7 without a break for the entire grow

ok i'm convinced, I'll go cheaper and maybe stick with the 4x2 for now. less explaining to the missus after I just sold her on the idea of a lovely wee 4x2 grow tent earlier today
i could show my missus a large tent and call it a 4x2. She wouldnt have a clue. Lols.
Guessing there is more in that boat than not. Love mine for shit like that. Hahaha.

Passive air intake is fine for that size space. Maybe go bigger than 5 litre pot, if you're only using 2 in that space. 14 litre pots should regularly yield 4-5 ounces each.

Looks the goods mate, you'll never regret buying quality equipment from the start. The T6 will run a 4 x 4 easy if you upgrade later on down the track. The Blackwing looks built for a 4 x 2. Nice.

If you're like most of us, you'll be running at least 1 more tent before long too ;)

Grab your pots or something else cheap at QBL to get the total up to the $1000, for the $75 TSE discount.

Thanks again to everyone for their generosity on advice. In the space of a week I’ve learnt enough to cover a postage stamp and will tap in as I go with questions. And there will be a few - last night it probably took me half an hour to figure out what nutes were 😂

Also big up to the vendors so far - personal checkin post order from Soren at Quick Bloom Lights was unexpected. Julie and co from 7 East Genetics seem totally on the ball and responsive. Also love the Jeep story. Std email from Mediseedman.

Went with the Mars Hydro 2x4 which was only $125 and the rest is same as above. So I’ve now spent all my Xmas and birthday money on goodies that should be here over the next couple of weeks.

Thanks again all!

Thanks all!

So after a few hours reading here and googling I reckon I have couple of options in the $800 to $1000 range. And cause I’m lazy and don’t have a car, the kits are appealing!

I’m tempted to go with something closer to $800 but keen for any views/experience with these and in particular on the lights cause I’m still trying to understand the lingo!

1. Spiderfarmer kit for $840 with ROLLITUP code

2. green fingers kit for $814

3. homegrown Mars kit for $1,032
I would stay as far away from spiderfarmer as you can get.
look for a post from member “Billygoat” if that doesn’t put you off not much will.
melted crap connections.

Yep , some Mars lights apparently too

Things like lights fans etc , it's better to spend more and get quality products with good reviews

It's better to hold off a little if you need to need , pay off in the long run

The tent is where you can save bucks initially, replace when you in a better situation with a crop or 2 behind you

Yeah agree mate, I have couple mars and viperspectras aswell as hps, but first thing I do is open them up n go through all the connections checking for tightness, basically the quality control check that they should do but don’t. 👍

I don't know if they took a little extra care with my ts2000 , it was a prize in a comp on OSA , they wanted a diary using their light , some suggested they gave it to me because they knew I do a diary, I just put my lucky number in

But since I've had it I've heard lots of shit about them and spiderfarmer but not a lot about the TS series of quantum boards

It works equal to the hlg diablo in veg , but the hlg comes into its own in flower

The buds on the T's 2000 are good , the hlg just that bit bigger and fatter
