Honestly, it was 8 weeks of doing nothing but occasionally fiddling with the buds in the freezer just 'cos I wanted to feel like I was actually doing something. They seriously just did themselves.
The smell whenever I opened the freezer was definitely telling me that I was on the right track. Fresh buds!
Hell yeah.
I smelled a bud of sedges Black Death X last night. Smells so fruity. Like it’s still alive.
I’m loving the freezer. Thanks whoever thought of it.

have u smoked any of what’s been drying in the freezer yet Harry?

and if the starting weight was over 60g, any idea what the final dry weight with this method is likely to be?

Just a few cones of small buds. Which were great, but a little wet. The next day it burned much better.

I don’t know. I’m hoping by weighing it every week ( or so, I forget) I’ll be able to work out when ready. I think average you lose about 70% weight
But I guess when it stops getting lighter it just be dry (?).

I had to move everything from the freezer to new house. But I couldn’t take the freezer at the same time. Anyway I moved the weed that’s been in the freezer for months.
And put in boxes. They aren’t dry.
So am leaving out of the freezer to finish off.
Maybe it’s because I had so much in there.
Seemed like the first test dried in a couple of weeks but when I added a few pounds it slowed it down too much. Might take a year. I dunno. Back to old way for a bit to finish off.

Will report back how long it takes now.

The colar above has lost a couple of grams overnight.

House smells glorious.

I've found the same problem - it takes forever in a standard freezer & doesn't fully dry out. Initially superb, but unless it's fully dried, it can turn mouldy very quickly.

Like you, I'm thinking the old way is still the best way to go.

I'm going to pay this off as a failed experiment & churn all of the material into edibles, since I don't have the required equipment to do it properly.

Yeah hopefully mine doesn’t go mouldy.
Would be disastrous.

I tried the freezer with a bit of my last run prob a bit over half a pound left it in there in bunches of branches loosely wrapped in paper towel.. After 2 or 3 months I started pulling it out around an oz at a time.. It would take a good day or so to dry once taken out but like everyone else said its still like its fresh as the day it was frozen and kept its appearance but in this case it had lost most of the smell and it was a particularly strong "skunky sweet" strain.. So..Im gonna give the freezer dry/cure method a 👎
The only time I would use it again is if I had to store a large amount long term because it does keep it *fresh* so to speak..

Strangely. I’ve noticed one strain ( 2 plants same strain ) both frozen now drying normally have no smell. But the other strains are smelly and hell.

Aha. It’s not getting lighter.

This is down to 31 grams now. Still feels wet.

I’ve never dried so late before. I guess it’s going to be slow and I’ll have to be careful of mould more than usual (?)
