After some heavy rain yesterday, my Habanero has decided to provide me with a multiple cloning opportunity. Stubby for size comparison.
It was one of the lower branches, so with a bit of luck, it should "take" OK.

I reckon I could get 3 or 4 decent clones out of this one branch. 'Never done it with a chilli plant before & being autumn, they might struggle a bit.

No! Wait! I have indoor tents & artificial lights available... :)

This spot/plot at "Chez Rabbit" just isn't cutting it. Not enough heat & not enough direct sunlight for the fruit to mature before the weather turns, so my extensive Tarot card & crystal ball-gazing tells me there's going to be a lot of green chilli sauce in my future.

The ones on the left were un-topped & the ones on the right were topped. Not a huge difference in height, but the un-topped ones are WAAAAY out-producing the others, so the jury is definitely "in" on this one.

The most-observant here will notice the two Mother plants (Bubba Kush & Wonder Woman) in the background that I put out to pasture awhile ago. I fear they are suffering the same fate as the chillies with lack of heat & sufficient direct sunlight.

This spot/plot has produced occasional septoria on lower leaves of tomatoes & I've lost a couple of decent-sized weed plants to bud-rot in the same location.

I think it's time for me to accept that this location is only suitable for short-lived culinary herb-production during summer.

Maybe cover in white plastic, increase the heat, protect from frost? Greenhouse it, structures there.
I always found some chillies were perennial, becoming nice shrubs?
Lovely two ladies 👍
Yep, I thought about that as soon as I hit "Post". The "dog enclosure" is definitely strong enough to turn into a greenhouse, but I'd need need to create some sort of pitched roof structure to prevent pooling of rainwater.

Once I've harvested the chillies, I'm planning on cutting them back hard to over-winter (which can be kinda harsh where I am) & see how they fare.

The ladies were Mothers that I probably put outside a bit too late to get full flowering potential, but I've got some clones going indoors for a seeds project.
