Trade wars take time to reflect long term impacts. Let's have a look at the war in 4 years time, not just a single battle.

Disingenuous to believe long term trade impacts will be favourable. Especially for consumers.
Huh? I simply showed the last 7 days of currency exchange. I am hesitant to believe all these breathless exclaimations of impending doom.

All we can do is examine the empirical evidence.

Huh? You quoting the immediate market reaction ( via dollar fluctuations)to the announcement, suggests the tariffs are a positive thing. How else do you expect us to interpret your reply?

In 6 months we can examine the actual price increases of specific goods with tariffs imposed, as well as inflation rates. I'm suggesting that prices and inflation will actually increase, to most people's detriment.

Unfortunately, the people that can least afford the price increases will be hardest hit.

Donnies mates won't even notice the price rises.

Yeah, from memory last time he tried this it caused an increase in inflation and unemployment in the USA but did bump the dollar.

Almost all economist are always wrong about everything. The only way we’ll know is by looking at historical data.

I certainly don’t profess to know how a trade war will work out.
Here you go. Economic modelling has already been done

The last line might give an indication of future impacts ( I.e. negative impact on the u.s. economy)

I'd be happy to see Donnies economic impact model, and compare truth from fiction in 6 months time.

I'll be happy to revisit the model and updates directly from this mob

I prefer objective data that isn't conjured up by Elon Musk .....the guy who fights tooth and nail to ensure there is NO censorship on platform X

Ohh, except for Robert De Niro, who has just been removed from X ( censored by Elon) because................well.............. Elon didn't agree with Roberts viewpoint.

Did anyone mention censorship? From the guy who insists there should be no censorship.......as long as we agree with him.

not sure that's correct

USA Today

‘De Niro is not on social media, period’

De Niro, a two-time Academy Award winner, is a longtime critic of former President Donald Trump. During an interview with MSNBC in May, he compared a second Trump presidential term to the reigns of dictators Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini. Musk – who owns the X platform and supports Trumpresponded by saying the comparison makes no sense.

But the claim that Musk banned the De Niro from the platform is false, according to the actor’s publicist, who said he is “not on social media."

Sums it up pretty well cut off your nose to spite your face type shit
Trudeau has just announced a 20% increase in price of fuel that Canada will sell to usa. And Mexico will soon be following Canada's lead.

Meh...... That will hardly affect fuel prices for mega rich Americans . 🤨

Only the poor people will be affected as OVER 70% of ALL American oil is purchased from Canada and Mexico. Only 70%, hey

Now I'm not an economist either. But at a fucking wild guess, the price at bowser for fuel in USA is just about to jump to over 20% overnight.

Thanks Donald for reducing oil prices and keeping inflation under control. What a genius economic idea to start a WORLD TRADE WAR. Wish I thought of that Donald. You're an obvious genius in disguise.

no, Canada supplies *60% of the FOREIGN oil bought by USA, not 70% of total volume. USA is a net exporter of oil now and has been for a while, so that assessment is entirely wrong.

Lol. Word play. It doesn't change the fact that Canada and Mexico (combined) still provides 70% of oil purchased by USA. The point still remains. Trudeau will be looking for a 20% price increase and asking Mexico to do likewise.

Call it what you want. But most reasoned onlookers would observe the start of a serious world trade war in Feb 2025.

Wait!!!! The price of fossil fuels in the US will go up? Surely that will sting the US consumers in the back-pocket, forcing them to think about Electric Vehicles instead, right?

Now.... Let me think for a femto-second... who owns the largest EV manufacturing company in the world? 'Wouldn't be the guy that bought the US Election for Trump, now would it?

What about his manufacturing plants in Germany/Holland/Canada/China & Mexico? Surely tariffs will be imposed on imports to the US from those countries?

Erm....NO. Those tariffs only apply to FOREIGN companies & Tesla is full-on Red, White & Blue, so I'm sure there has been some "under-the-table" exemption granted to anything imported by Elon's company.

Careful arguing against the "empirical evidence".

Musk now has access to every Yank’s private details.
It’s going to be entertaining. The pace has been frantic, as Trump only has 18 months then he’s a lame incumbent.
After that could get really interesting.
