Haven't done any time yet [touch woodYou done time Sun Ra? New Grafton?
Colleague from up north tried for refugee guard. Last I heard he was facing charges. Twas a twat.

always interesting stuff youve got to say sunraHaven't done any time yet [touch wood].
I got seconded to Immigration from Customs for 3 years early 2010s to work in detention centres at the height of boat arrivals under Gillard / Rudd - first as a Case Manager, then running Facilities Management on Christmas Island 2012/3 post riots and overseeing the place 400% over so-called "capacity". Did it for the money as I had just done a home extension & renovation and bumped up the mortgage - so it paid that off. Doubled my salary plus a few allowances were tax free. But the work did my head in.
Later in 2016 was head hunted to go back there - after another riot to work in an Intel capacity. The demographic had changed then from refugees to bikies and ex-cons / crims who had their visas cancelled on character grounds and were in the process of being "removed" or deported.
Working with Serco during this time was much, much more difficult than dealing with Iranian asylum seekers or even Mongols or Bandidos guys.
some would disagree matealways interesting stuff youve got to say sunra
I'd like to hereby register my disagreement with that comment.always interesting stuff youve got to say sunra

You worked at Villawood ? I heard stories about Blaxland ....... sounded like a cunt of a place.fark. small world. iām bad with years as i was drunk for so long, but I almost had a job doing facilities management at xmas island.
would have been similar time. hmm no would have been a couple of years earlier perhaps.
I was doing FM in sydney back then.
no. i was a residential facilities managerYou worked at Villawood ? I heard stories about Blaxland ....... sounded like a cunt of a place.
I never worked there. No Travel Allowance and Remote Area Allowance, so, nope.
One of the side benefits of going to Christmas Island was the fishing and getting to live in a unique environment that I probably wouldn't have gotten off my arse to visit in my private life. Same goes for Derby [Curtin] and Leonora as well.

A bit like this ?two nudie runs that went wrong.
a bloke who locked himself out. drunk. decided to climb to his third story balcony and fell impaling himself on a spiked metal fence. and survived.
one tenant complained the towel rail was bent. when i went and had a look to replace he told me he picked up a woman and took her home and she held the rail while he took her from behind. it should have been strong enough for that ! he also grew weed on his balcony but I ignored that.
It was like my work life was a soap opera set in a residential development.
I loved a lot about it but my boss was an arsehole who ended up owing millions in unpaid wages and super and went into voluntary administration. i never got my money ( 30 odd k). He remained rich of course.
