Hey members , i planted a few bean 😄s , recently, with sum seeds over 12 yrs old and got a 75% germination ,
They were stored in the kitchen fridge

Years ago I bought hundreds of seeds, back when it was super cheap. There were more Aus seed banks back then, now there are only a few and they aren't even resellers they are all white label now. Stuff got through from OS much more too.

Before using a fridge I tried to crack seeds that were left out in my cupboard for about 5 years. All the seeds were duds, whole collection gone. Chances are they weren't dry or cool enough, and temp swings probably fucked them. I had stopped growing and stopped caring 🤣 . I didn't even use a jar with rice, I just put them in a bag inside a draw and all were duds after 5 years of temp/humidity swings.

Ive tried the fridge here but living in share cunts just steal shit or throw shit away. Joys of share and rapidly rotating students. Sounds horrible but a lot of the foreign students just have zero respect for other people's stuff sadly. Lost about 150-200 seeds over 20-25 strains a few weeks back as someone just emptied half the fridge without consulting anyone lol.

Spewn.. still have a ton of random seeds here from a few more recent sprees but will have to start storing them in me mums fridge cause I can't risk them all disappearing again.

I threw a few old regs from 2016-2017 in a few months ago. Out of 10 only 3 germed over the first week. But murphys law another 4 or 5 decided to pop a week later once I threw em back into the medium bin.

I got a 42L bar fridge for my seeds so I'm not just opening and closing the fridge all the time, can easily fit it in a room if you need it to. Got it from Aldi for $140, its a 42L pretty perfect size.

I am storing seeds in the fridge. I have germinated seeds that were 15 years old although the Germination rate was poor the seeds were just kept in a drawer and given to me by my brother.
I have them sealed in individual bags or containers then in another sealed bag then place in containers with rice then into a larger container with just rice. Seen as I have soooo many seeds I wanted to make sure they were well looked after.
