Slow Drying Is Not The Way

I jar mine early (don't go by the stems snapping just when they feel dry), sweat them out until they go back up to 68-70%, throw them back into paper bags in and out of jars until they read 65% then just burp the rest of the time down to 58%-60%. Hope I'm doing it right 🤣. That's the best I can do for now
This is the way.

We will be debuting a competitor to the Cure Puck where it will burp for you automatically.

Interesting findings. I've always dried a bit faster myself. Usually 5-6 days usually as I lack the ability to control environment properly and go for the usual slow dry that's recommended. As long as I'm in the mid 20s and around 50-60% I'm happy to hang.
It's the smell for me. I tend to get it dry and in jars as quick as I can. When the humidities up i stick the dehumidifier in the room to speed it up. I get to many visitors to have it linger for weeks.

Mate the trimming really gets me in my paranoia...only time smell becomes a complete ass to conceal. I can climb in the 2x4 no problems but the 90x50s are a bit of a squeeze and I just dread it in general lol...if those doors are opened once you start moving/disturbing the weed its all over lol. If it's just growing or hanging it's not too bad.

Does have me wondering why all me mates are incapable of smoking a few cones a day without stinking out the whole block when I can grow like 4-7 plants and smoke multiple times a day without any of the 7 others here knowing haha. Goes to show how a little effort and respect goes a long way at the end of the day.

It's always 2-3 pounds drying here end of harvest. I have a carbon filter trying to contain it. But every so often u will be watching TV and catch a woft of it and it kicks starts the paranoia again 😆

Yea I wouldn't understand those struggles number wise. I think all three tents combined last round was around 18-20 zips. And luckily they were spread out over thee harvests and two or three weeks. A relatively big filter in each tent and one in the closet scrubbing.

So all up three 300x100mm filters with 120cfm fans and a 450x125mm/190cfm filter/fan scrubbing for like a third of the weed and I'm still stressing lol. All of that cyclonic force is crammed in a 2.5x2.5m walk in so it's pretty hectic in there lol.

Living in a wind tunnel is good fun..

i love the smell. more the merrier.
i want to come home and open the door and be hit by it :)

but that’s just me.

as a side. after my failed attempt at freeze drying. so frozen for a cooper of months then dried in fruit boxes for a week or so
now cured. last season had the best smell kn all the different strains i’ve ever had.

my i’ll method of hanging and or drying in fruit boxes from harvest never smelled as good as this. maybe just the strains. but all have a super strong fruity smell more like when the plants alive or just harvested.

maybe i just cured them perfectly for the today time (?).

as mentioned. i never go by snap method either. that’s too dry. i go by feel of bud with light squeeze.

Someone told me at a party recently that if you want to keep dope fresh for a long time - you hang it to dry, then cure it in a jar for a month or so - then freeze it. Could be bro science me thinks ? I mean, after you defrost a frozen cured oz - how long is that gonna last ? I dunno. Sounds suss .....

After a 10 day dry, 2-3 mth cure and using a vacuum sealer, put in a frost free freezer indefinetly
Upon opening, the bud doesn't seem 2 be frozen but similar 2 when u placed in freezer
Don't really know the science behind it, but it works....[4 me anyway]

Billy put me on 2 it
Have very little experience with frost free but main trick is 2 draw all moisture out with right cure and then by using vacuum sealer properly no water 4 frost free 2 freeze
Billy's not just a pretty face u know

Haha. Thanks mate.

Just a note though, frost free or not won’t matter if vac sealing.

My freeze drying involved dumping freshly cut plants straight in the freezer after only a quick, rough trim, with the purpose of drying, not long term storage :)

I really do need to get a vacuum sealer thingy - would use it for fish as well.

Any recommendations at a reasonable price ?
I use the Kmart one which works great, they sell the plastic rolls too. there's cheaper ones on eBay, rolls are a bit cheaper on eBay too.

Aldi had em on special last week for $39 and around $20 for the bags or roll
Sorry for late reply, only just read post
Speaking of Aldi - they have these this week - cheap knock offs of Dyson fans.

I dunno what the quality is like but vaguely thinking about grabbing one as they have a small footprint and also nice hight specs for indoors - bottom of the fan is maybe 30 cms off the ground - same height as a 20 litre bag. They are dearer than normal pedestal fans but have their place I reckon.

5 or 6 days in my opinion is far from ideal,,
I always aim for two weeks but they are usually done in 12 days ,,any sooner with most strains and flavour is compromised,,
I still can’t get over how everyone reckons 62% humidity is the best ,,you gotta remember those 62% bovedas were made for cigars, not for weed.
My humble opinion is that 58% Integra are better for long term weed storage than the bovedas.
I don’t worry about humidity percentages when drying as I’m not going to use machines to control that ,,the paper bags I dry in help slow things down in summer ,and help prolong the process in winter..
Each to his own but I’ll stick with what I know to be best for me.

This. Pretty well word for word..

But i don't use the humidity packs, just get it down to 58% before long term storage in jars. And the fact i use a box or two instead of bags. Drying (usually 10-14 days if i have a say in the matter) and initial curing (before jars) can take as long as 6-8 weeks, depending on the humidity i've got to work with. It was a long stint this time, but finally going in jars later today..

i bought a inkbird one off eBay for around $50-60, fuck knows why it's double the price now. But I can't fault it, it's got all the functions you'd ever require.

I like the Pulse function on it, where you control how much negative pressure you want in the bag before you seal it. That way you're not compacting/compressing the bud too much and damaging it

We highly recommend a side-by-side test. 4 tests on 14 day dry at various temps was absolute destroyed by one dry using Sharkmouses method.
