You can get solar-powered pond pumps that could be used for fertigation purposes during lights-on if you want to be a tight arse.

Your plan to make diamonds from coal, however, I believe will take several hundred million years to come to fruition.

Nah i got them from lynbrook hydro shop on ebay, i paid 40 bucks for freight interstate. If you buy more than 1 they might do a cheaper deal. They wrap it up well enough, black cling film and some extra cardboard for support

These are the ones im running, fits snug in a 4×4 space, would work in a 5×5 too.
