@Goonie Goat I’ve been using their (Searles) 50L premium potting mix and 50L organic fertiliser in my food gardens. Averages out about $20/bag. The fertiliser is basically high grade organic material that can be directly used, no heat. I have a broccoli forest in one bed as a result.
I’ve stopped the false economy of amending cheap Bunnings potting mix and compost. Too many plastics and wood chips.

Think you meant to tag @VinDeezle but still interesting.
The cheap Bunnings bags of potting mixes are absolute trash, as you said full of wood and garbage, have even found glass in some bags before and plastic is pretty much guaranteed 🤣.

Had to repot a blueberry plant and thought I'd try the more expensive stuff, think it was Scotts Azalea potting mix. Ripped open the bag and 1/3rd of the bag was clumps of water saving crystals, basically just blobs of shit..
Never wanted the Scotts brand but that's all I could get. These days I'll just mix up Coco/manure/compost which makes good potting mix.

Thanks for the correction and tag, I must be still having a reaction to his red headed avatar.
Yeah potting mixes are just base mediums for the girls, then over the top amendments. I’m only using in the garden cause I get in trouble for ignoring the veggies for my girls.
I think I mentioned last season planting together is a good compromise, sort of 🙈

Yea I've dug me fair share of building rubble, glass and tyre chunks out of basic composts and potting mixes. Always leaves a foul taste in your mouth.

Have had a dried and pressed mouse and a lizard or two In blocks of Coco before too.

The Searles advanced organic was free of nasties from what I can see, but doesn't have much peat in comparison to the platinum. The composted organic materials were nice and fine though, and look well-cooked. Medium was as dark as the biochar here.
