Mate I've never had a bug with it. It gets alge growing on it sometimes but they don't mind. It's $100 to fill 10 20lt pots so it's cheap. It's clean and easy to use.
Problems can made or fixed in 48 hours.
I water every 3rd day when they small and every 2nd day when they finish strech and are a bit bigger.
I just give em 1.3ec till about week 3 then they get 1.6ec to 1.8 depending on how they look then they get about 2ec for flower. Im to lazy to feed each plant individually so some end up a bit hungry or a bit over fed but most seem happy.
Only downside is they use a lot more nutes than soil.

Spose it’s sorta like clay balls in hydro
I’ve tried it before but only half way down the pot and yeah no gnats or bugs
Have u noticed improvement in hermies?
I had probs with keeping ec up as whatever I fed in bottle nutes seemed to flush right through, so dried organic stuff worked ok

Nah I germinate them in a little rockwool cube then as soon as roots come outa the cube I put em in the pots in the pic.
Mate hermies are in the genectics of the plants so if they guna hermie they guna hermie! The environment they live in is pretty much optimal as I can control heat and humidity.
I reckon the dried organic stuff would work with perlite.
