Potency Tester?

Howdy folks, has anyone got any knowledge they're willing to share about home potency testers? I've been researching units obsessively for a week. Initially I was convinced that I needed to spend 11k, two days later it was the 4k unit that was best for me, now it's a tCheck for $800.
Or perhaps you have a cool lab assistant mate or nerdy (also cool) sibling keen to test flower, oils, gummies for $$?

I also throw some shade at the cheaper options were, i dunno, something maybe like light hits a nugget and whatever reflects back is the cannabinoid levels? I'm not convinced this is even accurate because depending what part of the bud is "scanned" or "probed" it could result in a different reading from another part. It would give a bit of an idea or rough estimate within a degree of accuracy but yeah.
The best potency test would be blending a selection of cannabis and making some sort of emulsion then "probing" the emulsion for cannabinoid levels.

PS: Emulsion isnt even the correct word but whatevs

agree with fox although edibles are a little different when it comes to testing

getting high from smoking is not always about just THC levels , high THC doesn't always mean you get more stoned , many other factors like terps for one , other cannabinoids for another aka the entourage effect

I'm sure the info would be useful to some. Personally, though. I'm more leaning to itchy's way of thinking to some extent. Whereas it more about the individual finding their Holy Grail. Some folks search for it their entire life time and never find it. Some get lucky early in the peace.

I cant say i've found mine yet, but i do know what ball park my preferred genetic choices lay. And that's Sativa-Dominates. Probably around 3/4's Sativa 'n a 1/4 of Indica. I'd love to hook into the solid Thai/Vietnamese genetics, but too much of full blown sativa's could potentially send me in the long term. That's why 'm fairly comfortable around those ratio's. Just a hint of Indica to take the edge off the Sativa's.

They usually put me in the zone I want to be. Not too smashed, just comfortably numb whilst still functioning so i can go about my day. Each to their own, though..

Hope you find what you're looking for, missrachael. (y)

Totally agree. The advice is to take an average from multiple tests. I'm not concerned about being crazy accurate but I grow a variety of medicinal strains for people and would love an indication especially how it changes over time. Super interesting.

Thanks Indy. I love variety and how my experience changes as the flower ages. If it's all bolloks I'll know pretty quickly I reckon but hopefully have some fun with it at the very least. Who doesn't love a new gadget.

Thanks Itchy. Edibles are what I mainly want to use it for but would be interested in comparing flower pre-harvest, at harvest and post long term just for interest sake more than anything.
