@Sun Ra i new Ross Hannaford , great guitarist , played in a band with him for a very short time , in fact i don't think i ever played a gig with him , either way it was an honor to have sat in a room & played some tunes with him

saw David Sanborn live at the concert hall in Melb whenever that was a number of years ago , his live album "Stright to the heart" was on high rotation especially because Marcus Miller was on that album , being a bass player i was a big fan of him & his playing

Yeah I kinda knew Hannas too through friends who played with him - a lovely guy who loved the booze a bit too much for his own good. To be fair it was an occupational hazard. I never got to see Sanborn but loved him from his stuff with Bowie in the 70's - Young Americans and David Live stuff. His TV show was pretty cool too. He was a hell of a player who basically invented the white funk alto sound. Love or hate it - he did it. 🎵

he def loved a drink that's for sure , liked a smoke too , i can't remember who the band was but we turned up at a pub gig late & saw his last set , the band went back on stage & had to ask " has anyone seen Ross " over the mic , he was sitting at the bar , he stumbled through the crowd to the stage , he pretty much couldn't stand up so he sat crossed legged on stage , i thought " this isn't going to be good " but it was the most incredible playing i've heard , he should have been allot more well known worldwide , i was told by other he was offered studio time with big acts who were touring at the time but he was a no show , due to alcohol , have no idea if that's true just what i was told

I was def a fan of his TV show although i can't remember how i got to see it , i also enjoyed Grover Washington Jr's playing (Winelight album) who also had Marcus Miller on bass

I like lots of stuff but have always been a fan of Funk , Soul , R n B , James Brown (Maceo Parker) , Aritha Franklin , Al Jarreau , Tower of Power , chakka khan , Luther Vandross & many others

Not a huge fan of Spit Enz but don't mind them all the same. Griggs is my son's godfather so I guess there is that ......
