Police netted $45,000 worth of cannabis, as well as other illicit substances, following a raid on an Aberdare property this week.

Officers attached to Hunter Valley PD kick-started an investigation last month into the cultivation and supply of marijuana in the region.

Following extensive investigations, they executed a search warrant on Aberdare Road about 8.30am on Tuesday 8 July.

The officers located and seized more than 8kg of cannabis, found growing from inside a shed ceiling, along with 48g of methylamphetamine, 1.2g of heroin and a taser.

It’s understood the estimated street value of the marijuana is $45,000.

Police then arrested a 44-year-old man before taking him to Cessnock Police Station.

He was charged with possess prohibited drug (3); possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (3); supply prohibited drug (2); possess prohibited plant; and cultivate prohibited plant.

After being refused bail, he’ll now appear before Local Bail Division Court 2 on 9 July.

Surely hanging cannabis from the roof to dry while the lights are on wouldn't be the best thing? Sure the HPS would dry it out but would it be desirable let alone the breakdown of the more volatile components?

Edit: I think there's more photos out there of the grow but couldn't find them

unfortunately when your a black market buyer as we all have been at some stage you get what ya given , & most if not all of the black market producers couldn't give a fat rats clakker about anything except the quickest way to max revenue , quality is a dirty word to them didn't matter how you sold the idea of quality = increased revenue 🤷‍♂️

Were talking about a Cessnock( Aberdare) grow house. That's right near my family farm.

Its well known that anyone from
Cessnock is born with two heads, and no brain.

PGR grower won't notice the difference in quality if dried quickly under HPS lamp.🤪
