The End of Afgan War

This isn't canna news as such (struggled to find a acceptable category to post in). But with Biden announcing the end of the war in Afghanistan. I've been blessed with a rather unique task that some of you might be interested in hearing.

This yarn starts way back to not long after 9/11. My job back in the day was in industrial maintenance working on various plants keeping shit up 'n running. Anyway, during that time I struck up a friendship with a bloke by the of Chuck that lived in the States (Chatanooga), occasionally him and his workmates would come over here and setup machinery for the company he worked for.

Anyway, about the day it was announced that Aussie and Yank troops were heading over there, we were at the pub one afternoon having a few drinks before seeing the lads off at the airport. Just as were wrapping up last drinks. Chuck lobs beside me and bungs a bottle of Jack in front of me, to which I questioned him to what it's about. He goes on to say to me " When our troops return from the iraq/afgan war, I want to catch up with you one day and we'll polish this bottle off together".



So, Chuck. The day has finally arrived, now I just gotta track you down again. It's going to be a bit of a task because all I got is one very old email to work with. Wish me luck!

That should be it, I don't usually drink bourbon, it had been stashed away in a filing cabinet for years until it got moved in with the other spirits. Though I did check the back and it's a 700ml bottle which has me wondering. Fairly sure back in the day we still had our spirits in 750ml bottles. Or have JD bottles always been 700mls?

Found the bugga, still stashed away in the cabinet. Newer bottle must've been purposely bought so the original didn't get polished off.

Though this one is also 700ml 'n 40%. Newer bottle on left, original on right..

It was on for him as soon as he got out of school/college, enlisted straight away and started a engineering degree on one of their big arsed aircraft carriers. Not you're typical loud-mouthed bloke full of bullshit stories, quite the opposite in fact.

Well that trail went cold real quick. Finally dug up his old AOL mail account which is no longer active. Might have to create a Facebook account and have a dig around someday. Buggered if I know when that'll happen, as don't like the idea of some cunt I don't know having my details.

Just create a fake facebook account with a real sounding name, use a real looking profile picture from Google images and when you're sure you've found him, message him and explain that you don't use facebook, hence the fake name but you still wanted to catch up with him.

Ummmm..this goes against Facebook rules, please don't break the rules! Don't be like Anoma....

lol, I hate facebook but one of my clients asked me and the rest of the team to test some unreleased devices which happen to be made by them so now I have 6 different fake facebook accounts because I couldn't be bothered organising test video chats with the others, so I did it myself. It worked. I wouldn't personally use the devices but they pay me so whatever.

And yeah, don't ask, I'm under multiple NDA's and I don't really want an arsehole company suing me.
