New Feature: Push Notification

After a server update, Push Notifications are now enabled on all devices.
You'll see a new popup on the bottom of your display that looks like this:

Mobile users will most likely see the usual popup requesting access.

If you dismiss this or want to turn push notifications on, you can visit your preferences page:
https://www.theserratededge.com/forum/account/preferences
and turn it on there.


For all the apple users here:
There might be issues with your devices.
Official notes include this line

Unfortunately for reasons beyond our control (read: it's Apple's fault) the list of supported devices/browsers notably exclude Safari on macOS and any iOS-based browser.

So please let me know if you're having issues or if it actually works for you.

What the fuck is a "push notification" ?

When someone replies to a thread or mentions you on the forum, a notification will go to your phone or browser alerting you of that so you don't have to manually see the update in the forum or rely on the email you would usually get.
