hi guys, i got 5 hygro and temp-meter...everyone shows me something different...i somehow don't trust my aci controller with its sensor probe...my aircon says its 22C and my aci says its 28C...and my other devices say its 24,28,20....who do i trust? what do you guys use to measure temps and humidity...btw the humidity is the same, all over the place...any help guys????

I've got a bunch of the little black cheap ones you see everywhere. There is usually two in each tent, one or two in the closet and a few laying around in me room. If i put all 8 or 9 laying around in the same place, they all read within 1% humidity and 0.1-.5c temp so it's a bit odd to have em reading all significantly different.

I have a clock and a random ebay hygro as well, and they read pretty much the same as the little black ones as well so its all pretty stable here unit by unit.

Hi sp4c3 you can calibrate the humidity sensors with a jar and some salt. Search for hygrometer calibration and you should find info on how to do it. I haven't tried it myself. I want to now I have a bunch of sensors myself. Most read similar numbers to each other, but every so often they go out of sync further than seems correct. It can do with the placement inside your grow space, depending on how much air circulation you have.

I haven't found out about temperature calibration yet. Maybe one could use boiling water as a reference point, assuming you are at sea level. Unlike the hygrometer, I don't know how you can have a reference heat. Perhaps others have better idea.

Like VinDeezle said, I am a bit the same. I read them all, and assume between them all I've got a ball park reading. Given the grow environment is usually subject to additional forces to alter the environment, it is always in flux and thus not stable. Not unless corrected via means such as fans, heaters and humidifiers. I would be worried about leaving it to an automated system without taking the time to work out your baseline reference and such. I am working on this with my growing wardrobe.

I’m finding around 2 deg difference between the tent and the aircon temp at times. Humidity and temperature in the tent will definitely vary based on where the sensor is and what ventilation you have running. I also notice some big swings in temperature as the aircon kicks in and out on its thermostat. The humidity between the tent and the outdoors varies based on how hard the aircon has to work to bring down the temperature. If it is only pulling down a few degrees the variance is less than if the aircon is trying to pull down 10deg. Also how well is the air outside the tent mixing?… do you have a ceiling fan or other fan running? It is pretty easy for stratification or having areas cooler than others with minimal circulation.

I’m seeing a few points of variance between the different sensors I’m running but it should definitely not be in the order 8 points.

Given your humidity is stacking up no great need to worry about. For temperature best way to see what the real temp is an old school bulb. Should be able to get a proper thermometer from a chemist pretty cheap.

Just because the aircon is on 22 doesn’t mean the room is at that temperature. It may be struggling to get to level due to being undersized or with high humidity.

Hard to say a lot of variables there but it does seem like some of the devices are out of whack.

You're not the only one.
Mine has been a total piece of crap since I hooked it up.

Thought that I could dial my environment in better and try to be more efficient with running costs but I ended up just leaving the inline fan on 50% 24/7.

I didn't dare plug my clip fans in to the controller either.

cheers for that...
i have to figure out witch sensor reading i can trust...i def get proper thermometer from chemist to compare...
