I'm hoping this won't turn into a throwing shite fest! Flushing is frequently discussed, but I've never personally read anything that was based on the scientific method. I got my wish and will share the journal article.

If reading the article seems a slog, here is a very short spoiler: Flushing does nothing much, good nor bad, to the plants or buds. It simply saves on nutrients.

May the friendly discussion commence!

I previously thought flushing was a bad idea and would result in less yield, I'm currently reconsidering that belief....

I have flushed maybe twice. Now I just feed until harvest. Never had any complaints either way.
Think the whole debate over non flushed weed being harsh is just bro science.
I remember people would ramble on years ago saying that if you boil your roots in a pot when harvesting it would increase the sugars in the plant by closing the stomata or some other BS.

A slow dry time at harvest is more important imo

keep in mind back in the day guys were using growth promoters that were banned in most countries for use on food crops , i think you can still get some of them under the counter if your in the know & grow in a hydro type system

not sure if flushing made any diff after you had used these kinda products but the thinking was "you should" if you were using some cancer causing chems on ya weed

Early days i used to flush religiously. Then it was sporadically for sometime. Now, 10-14 days before harvest I just run the reservoir down and top up with water when required.

In all my time. I haven't noticed a spec of difference. If anything, it all seems to be in the drying and curing processes, if anywhere.

I've only recently returned to Hydro from soil, so I've ignored flushing for a couple years. But, after reading that article, I'm gonna flush for a week. I usually plan the harvest about a week ahead, so that already fits my workflow nicely.

Exactly!! the drying and curing process is integral to achieving the quality you want
