I've never found a huge difference in taste nor effect between strains in the edible format. Because of this, I often use up old buds in edibles. Your mileage may vary ..

@danny357 , this is for you too..

Definitely a difference in effect, dependent on strain ('though taste remains pretty similar unless you do caps).

The trouble with edibles is that the process of getting all the goodies into butter/oil etc. will degrade a certain percentage of all the lovely volatile terpenes that help with the entourage effect.

If you're only after the THC, the sky's the limit (pardon the obvious....) & reiterated infusions can have you cowering in a corner & whimpering like a schoolgirl, wishing for the Galaxy to stop revolving so you can get off & have a nice lie-down, rather than bouncing off the furniture & communing with ancient tree-sprites (I speak from personal experience here......).

edibles are strange for me.

i make infused coconut oil.

some days i have a spoon and feel nothing. other times I am a mess for a day.

same batch, same amount.

someone gave me some tincture and same thing. first time i felt nothing. next time i was paranoid beyond belief for 12 or so hours.

i’m always wary now.

I’ve slipped fully into edibles of late.
It’s more medicinal in high, rounded and balanced but lacking all the subtleties and nuances of fresh flower and associated terpines which are the major attractions for most users.
Since I started CBD oil this has occurred. I usually have a dose a day of CBD, occasionally 2. I definitely feel a very mild psychoactive affect on the 2nd dose but I suspect that’s just the Thc in my system. Then I’ll have a drop of my RSO hemp seed oil blend for my afternoon into evening medicated session (high) which I enjoy, followed by my usual drop of same before bed. In the past the drop before bed has been a staple.
I revisited my mild gummies too of late from the freezer for situations away from home. I know 1 is mild but nice and if I have another in 90 minutes later it rolls on and by the time I hit the fourth I’m really happy, about 3-4 hours after the first. Four all at once is a pleasant strong high.
I find keeping it mild, slow and dosing at the minimum prevents that liver, edibles overdose hangover effect one gets after a solid dose that’s leaning towards mild psychedelic.
Main issue is adapting to the onset, but over time it’s become normal, just took me awhile to adapt and learn.
I am of the opinion (just my musing not fighting words 🤓) that the entourage effect persists but in a different way. Edibles seem to merge to this singularity, that I find comforting.
I think this years consolidation will be RSO and dry sift that’s strain specific just to explore whether I can distinguish between strains or if it still feels like that singularity of effect.
I’ll just keep adjusting, planning my doses till I’m perfectly medicated. Then the vape will be used only to test and assess fresh flowers.
Ahh cannabis, it’s great how it evolves and changes in one’s life.

As I didn't believe or ever partake in the devil's lettuce but I'm now a firm believer now as pain is so bad. I
Usually use Cbd thought out day and thc thought the night.
Thanks for all the comments and I would like to thank all of you

You've just provided a different perspective to the one I presumed/assumed & I apologise for that.

In hindsight, it would've been a good idea to explain your situation in a bit more detail, so you can get better feedback.

If your goal is to achieve pain relief, then edibles will provide a more-sustained solution. You'll need to do a bit of experimentation with strains & amounts to find what works best for your individual needs & it's not a one-size-fits-all answer.

Good luck with your journey.

You BASTARD!!!
Now I've got the munchies!!!!

And yeah, I have indeed had quite an insightful conversation with a Triceratops perched high in a tree (don't ask me how it got there!) that was intreating me not to clear too much of the bush on my property. Once I explained that it was for bushfire mitigation & that the wildlife were welcome to shelter with us if things turned bad, it nodded, smiled & promptly disappeared.

I subsequently diluted that batch

Erm.... No, mate.

One is a small, tasty morsel of filo pastry surrounding a cheesy filling, meant for entertaining your guests at a soiree or other polite get-together accompanied by a small glass of champagne.

The other is a ferocious Demon of the underworld, surrounded by fire, great big pointy teeth, bad breath & a REALLY, REALLY bad, anti-social attitude:

Hopefully, we've cleared-up this little misunderstanding.....
