I've got some soil that I've made up myself with base potting mix, left over canna terra pro, horse manure, added inscect frass and worm castings and my own compost,I've had it wrapped up in a tarp that I open weekly and give it a turn over but not crazily bcoz it's just nice and rich with lots of baby worms in it now. So my question is can I mix perlite with it and use it in pots? My hesitation is the worms and whether they'll survive. Or am I just over thinking it?. It's a great mix from what the worms tell me but I'd like to add 1/3 perlite and use it in pots. I think a big pot might be the go, I'm worried the worms will die if I confine them in pots..any thoughts?

Yes you can. Some of the worms will die.
When you water they will drown and end up coming out the bottom holes of the pot.

I’ve been doing the same. But I’m using the mix for a big raised bed.
Potting mix, reused coco and perlite, chook shit, old wood. It all is cooking under a tarp. I’ve already picked out worms and put them in my planters that have I have berries in.

@Aye Shroomer It's great making up mixes for the garden, I started doing compost on a basic level and just worked on from that. Mixing up this and that and just watch the worms, if the worms move in and start multiplying then I know I'm on the right track, no worms then something's up.

Hey it's all good mate, it's all about the same thing, soil building. You should get some lurcerne for mulch ,it's good stuff I do lurcerne and sugar cane mulch alternating..worms I love earth worms they are just the best things at telling me what I'm doing works..
Actually threw sugar cane over it 10min ago. That will keep soil moist until I buy a few more bags to top up.
