‘Pay for more murders’: AFP boss says decriminalising drugs won’t stop organised crime

I was under the impression that decriminalisation was more about not clogging up the jails for using or possessing small amounts of drugs while offering alternative treatments for addicts, not to keep believing in the impossibility of eliminating organised crime?

What do I know though, I'm not the AFP Commissioner.

The article didn’t mention weed at all. Of course gangs are still going to make drugs. But it’s not meth or coke that we want decriminalised anyways.
Stupid news

Yeah sorry, they bunched everything into one category but at least we now know the attitude of the AFP when it comes to everything.

Don’t be sorry mate, unless you wrote the article lol.
But it’s demonstrates the AFP missed guided ideas. How many states in US now have decriminalised weed? It’s just our backward country.
I would like coke decriminalised and eckys and psychedelics!!!

Fuck meth but that shit can stay illegal. 🤣

“So-called party drugs are made with so many corrosive chemicals that in the countries they are made the Earth is left scorched and local waterways poisoned,” the federal police commissioner will say.

The Commissoner has been dabbling with evidence out back I reckon..

It’s also about police being able to put resources into tackling the black market producers and suppliers instead of the end users. Targeting the end users will never stop the producers/suppliers

Also by his comments he doesn’t understand the difference between decriminalisation and legalisation.

“Making these drugs lawful will not stop organised crime – it will likely embolden them, make them richer and enable them to buy more guns and pay for more murders.”

It’s still illegal once decriminalised it’s just not a fucking crime for users.

Yeah, it's those sorts of things that make me wonder whether this guy is suitable for the job.

Or maybe I said that on Reddit, I can't remember.

Someone reminded me of Mark Standen though last week, check this 4 Corners video out, it's pretty good. Especially if you like seeing top cops getting arrested, lol.
